SEOUL — South Korea’s Honam Petrochemical Corp. said it has jointly launched the development of large-sized rechargeable batteries with the U.S.-based ZBB Energy Corp. , a local online news provider Edaily reported Sunday, citing the company’s chief executive Chong Bum-shick.
“We plan to commercialize such batteries within two or three years from now and it is expected to create multi-billions [in] sales in 2015,” the report quoted Chong as saying at a company event Saturday.
Chong also said the rechargeable batteries that are under development will be used for storing electricity supplied by solar and wind power.
